Inflatable ability of the down/feathers wadding
With this 85/15 down jacket, the inflatable ability of the down/feathers is guaranteed to be over or equal to 660 CUIN. The inflatability capacity is indicative of the down thermal insulation capacity, with the ""trapping"" of a certain volume of air. Therefore the more the duvet inflates, the more space it occupies, the more air it traps and therefore greater insulation provided.
The advantages of down and duck feather* wadding (for the front and back of the down jacket)
The down inflation capacity and durability provides 3 qualities for hiking:- Thermal insulation owing to the air trapped in the down and feathers Extremely light: providing the same warmth as synthetic wadding, down is lighter. This means your bag stays light - Very compressible * Our down is made from Chinese ducks reared for their meat, we recover the down after slaughter. We keep the duck death certificates.
Care instructions for a down and/or feather down jacket
The down jacket can be worn throughout the year and will definitely need to be washed. View our advice at the link below:
In the case of rain
The down material is waterproof. It allows water droplets to slide across the fabric delaying water infiltration in the down jacket, giving you time to reach shelter. However the down jacket is not waterproof. We therefore recommend wearing a waterproof jacket underneath the down jacket in the case of long periods of rain.
